photography essay: Preston Rolls

This six weeks I felt personally inspired by Preston Rolls. He’s a locally based photographer in Austin,Tx. And is a personal friend of mine. I admire his raw talent and natural business skills, he’s persistent and always delivers more than what the customer asked for. He’s punctual and very professional when it comes to every aspect of his business process, this includes making a name for himself via social media outlets, booking shoots, having a standard rate for his photos, the actual shoot, editing the day of, and delivering of the photos within 1-2 days. Preston is very efficient in his entire work and his passion for photography is seen through his work. His artistic view and flexibility with creativity inspires me most, with every shoot that he does, preston’s creativity and originality shows. None of his shoots are alike, this promise of an original and unique session also bodes well for his business. Preston strays away from the average warm and bland tones that are seen in a lot of instagram local photographers but instead introduces his own sense of color and youthful exuberance in his photos. Preston insists on highlighting and emphasizing the colors of his photos and tastefully does so. I think this is an admiring trait because it shows character on his part and individuality within his photos. Preston is very flexible and contends to the interests of his customers and caters to what they envision, this doesn’t inhibit his creativity but instead just heightens it. Preston also is an avid austinite and knows the locations that best fit his customers. This is inspiring because it doesn’t restrict him and his sessions and doesn’t create unnecessary repetition within his portfolio. Another admiring trait of Preston Rolls is his genuine passion and love for his work, he constantly has his camera on him and is always on the search for an optimum photo opportunity, whether it be architecture or a portrait with a blossoming tree, Preston will use his artistic skills to create a masterpiece. I truly have been inspired by Preston Rolls, not just this past six weeks but ever since i met him. I’ve always aspired to mimic his zeal, passion and efficiency.
